In a surprising move, the Edmonton Oilers scratched defenseman Oscar Klefbom from their lineup late last night in their crucial game 6 against the Anaheim Ducks. Of course, the Oilers were no worse for wear as they trounced the Ducks 7-1, but Oilers fans are still left wondering what’s wrong with Kelfbom and what’s his status for game 7?

Well, wonder no more because head coach Todd McLellan confirmed that the 23 year-old blue liner will be good to go when the Oilers face-off against the Ducks in Anaheim on Wednesday. Klefbom has been a revelation for the Oilers this postseason and, with the team also losing Andrej Sekera for the series, his removal from the lineup could be a costly one for the Oilers.

In 11 games this postseason Klefbom has two goals and five points, but more importantly his defensive play and ability to break the puck out of the Oilers zone has been instrumental in his team’s success. He’s regularly the top ice-time earned on the Oilers squad and heads up the team’s power play unit, as well. His value to the team cannot be understated.
