Update: Will Butcher has made his choice

According to a report from Sportsnet’s senior reporter Chris Johnston, the Will Butcher Sweepstakes will draw to a close this afternoon. After weeks of speculation and dozens of rumor reports, Butcher has finally made his decision and will make an announcement on his NHL future later today.

Fox Sports reported yesterday evening that Butcher had narrowed his list down to just two teams, the Los Angeles Kings and New Jersey Devils, but a conflicting report from Matthew Bove of WKBW in Buffalo indicates that the Buffalo Sabres are also still in the mix to sign the 22-year-old defenseman.

Wherever he ends up Butcher has the skills and capability to step into a team’s top four defense group and push play up ice. The former Colorado Avalanche draft choice had four stellar seasons for the University of Denver and has a ton of hype surrounding him for the 2017-18 season.
