Vegas signs Roy to a three year contract

According to a report from NHL insider Frank Seravalli, the Vegas Golden Knights have signed RFA forward Nicolas Roy to a five year contract worth $3 million per season.

The 25 year old forward had a bit of a breakout campaign last season, potting 15 goals and 39 points in 78 games. He's a solid contributor up and down the lineup, but it's a bit surprising to me to see him score so big on a long-term deal. Then again... you can't blame the Golden Knights for trying to lock up some cap certainty these days. The fact of the matter is that this team has been absolutely spinning its tires the past few seasons due to cap mismanagement.
