Very bad news regarding NHL participation at the Olympic Games.
Keystone Press

The National Hockey League has been threatening not to participate in the upcoming Winter Olympic Games in South Korea and today they doubled down on that threat.

Despite the fact that many believed they would eventually work out a deal with the International Olympic Committee, the NHL's top brass, Gary Bettman and Bill Daly, held a joint press conference today where they made it clear they were leaning towards no participation.

From TSN's Darren Dreger:

Bettman says there was a strong negative sentiment among NHL owners toward Olympic participating during today's Board discussions.

As the media availability with Bettman and Daly continues hope of NHL participation in 2018 Olympics seems to be fading.

The NHLPA's Donald Fehr rejected an offer from the NHL last week that would have guaranteed participation, and that may have turned ownership off of the Olympics in Korea.
