Veteran defenseman announces retirement after over 400 NHL games.

A veteran defenseman best known for a horrific on-ice incident is officially calling it quits after extending his career in Europe.

According to Mike Halford of NBC Sports, veteran defenseman Kurtis Foster has announced his retirement from professional hockey at the young age of 34 years old after two seasons in the KHL and one in the DEL.

Foster ends his pro hockey career with 405 National Hockey League games, 42 goals, 118 assists, for 160 points and 308 penalty minutes over the course of those games. He will now be taking on a coaching role in the next phase of his career, staying close to the game.

As for the aforementioned incident that fans will best remember for, we've included it below, but be warned it's not easy to watch.
