The Calgary Flames shocked several of their fans this summer, signing free agent and former Edmonton Oilers goalie Cam Talbot to a contract and acquiring Milan Lucic.

Well now, Talbot and Lucic aren't the only former Oilers joining the Flames crew.

On Wednesday night, it was revealed that veteran defenseman Eric Gryba was offered a professional tryout agreement (PTO) by the Flames.

The 31-year-old spent last season with the New Jersey Devils, but only took part in 10 games with the team. He spent most of the year with the farmclub in Binghamton, collecting two goals and seven points in 47 contests.

Gryba was a member of the Oilers for three seasons, but played just 21 games with the Canadian team in 2017-18. He split his time with the Bakersfield Condors that year as well…

This could be his chance to crack an NHL roster and make a return. Gryba will likely be competing with Andrew MacDonald for a roster spot, as both defenders are on tryouts.

We will see if he will manage to impress GM Brad Treliving and stick with the team.
