At the end of the 2018-19 season, we all felt for veteran forward Jason Pominville, who broke down during a scrum with reporters when asked if he could be playing his last games in the NHL as he was ending the regular season calendar as a member of the Buffalo Sabres.

It sounded almost certain that Pominville would not be back with the Sabres this upcoming season, and while many expected the 36-year-old to hang up the skates, he still hit the free agency market but remains unsigned.

For the moment…

According to Eric Engels of Sportsnet, the talks of retirement might be put on hold and the insider revealed that the Montreal Canadiens are currently having discussions with the veteran forward.

While Engels does not think something is imminent, we all know that Habs head coach Claude Julien made a big statement last week.

When Julien was asked about his starting lineup for the start of the season, the head coach appeared reluctant to answer the question, hinting that his general managerMarc Bergevin might not be done shopping on the market, which could change several things in the coming days.

“I think we have until Sept. 9 for our official golf tournament and by then we’ll have more clarity on what to expect because there’s still some things we’re discussing,”he said, per Engels.

Was he talking about the potential addition of Pominville to his roster?

We will keep an eye on this, folks!
