Veteran forward gives surprising answer to questions of retirement.

Considering how frequewnly the subject of retirement has been mentioned around him his answers this week were a little surprising. There has been conversation of potential retirement surrounding veteran forward Shane Doan for several seasons now, which when you consider his ability to continue producing despite his advanced age seems a little odd.

The Arizona Coyotes captain was a guest on Arizona Sports 98.7 earlier this week and was asked about potential retirement, and while Doan did indicate that it was something he would seriously consider, there is still a very real possibility he returns next season. On whether or not he's leaning towards as return/

"Yeah, I probably would be,"said Doan as transcribed by The Score.

How his family, his wife and children, feel about his continued National Hockey League career will likely play a major role in his decision.

"It's going to be a decision that I make personally, but at the same time, I'm very aware that my kids are getting older and my wife's been supporting me for a long time ... I'm cognizant of all that and I don't want to take that lightly."

Doan also expressed his gratitude to the Coyotes, and mentioned his belief that the team will support him regardless of his decision, and considering how loyal he has been to the organization one would expect them to be.

"They've just been respectful in the way that they're saying that if it works for me to come back, then we'll talk then, and if it doesn't, they'll be supportive of whatever."
