A veteran forward has decided to call it a career.

The Mannheim Eagles  announced on Twitter that German forward Jochen Hecht has officially retired from hockey. Hecht had been playing in Germany since retiring from NHL competition in 2012-13, when he scored 14 points in 47 games for Buffalo.

Hecht spent the last 10 years of his career for the Sabres, but also played for the St. Louis Blues and the Edmonton Oilers. He had 186 goals and 277 assists in 833 career regular-season games, and added 14 goals and 18 assists in 59 playoff games. He has since played in Germany for the Eagles.

He had a decent career and will be remembered fondly by Sabres' fans.

We wish him good luck in his life after hockey.
