There were very serious rumors of retirement surrounding veteran forward Patrik Elias this season, and in fact he himself admitted he was contemplating the possibility that his National Hockey League career was over, but he may have changed his mind.

According to a report from Sportsnet's Luke Fox the agent for Elias, Allen Walsh, has informed him that Elias wants to play one more year, assuming of course that his body is up to the task.

“He desperately wants to play one more year,” Elias’s agent, Allan Walsh, told Sportsnet. “We’re not talking to other teams. If Patrik is able to play at the level he expects himself to play, if he can contribute to a team, I think New Jersey would very much love to have him back.”

It's expected that if Elias does play another season he will sign again with the Devils and not test the market in free agency. Furthermore Elias is not expected to make his final decision until the end of the summer, after a full rehab, and after evaluating his health at that point.
