An unexpected debut.

At the start of the season it seemed highly unlikely that baring an injury or some sort of catastrophe that the Jets would be seeing goaltender Ondrej Pavelec again, perhaps ever.

Mid-way through January though the Jets plans have come crashing down to reality as both the goaltenders they leaned on, Connor Hellebuyck and Michael Hutchison have let them down in a major way thus far. As a result Pavelec was called up earlier in the week, and fans won't have to wait long to see him debut.

According to multiple reports the Jets will give the start to Pavelec on Wednesday evening when they welcome the Arizona Coyotes to the MTS Center in Winnipeg. Any way you look at this, Pavelec is being tossed a softball here, and one has to wonder if the plan is to run with him as the starter if he plays well in his return from the American Hockey League.

In 18 games with the American Hockey League's Manitoba Moose this season Pavelec has a 2.78 goals against average and .917 save percentage.
