Veteran Player Officially Retires Today After More Than 1,000 Games Played

It’s no breaking news since it’s been announced last week but it will be official today. Olli Jokinen will retire as a Florida Panthers as he signed honorary contract with the cats.

Jokinen's incredible career spanned 1231 NHL games but was marred by a lack of playoff success, largely through no fault of his own. In fact Jokinen holds the NHL record for most games played without a playoff appearance with 799. It may be a record that will never be broken as many NHL careers don't even last that long.

The 38-year-old center will end his career with 321 goals and 429 assists for a very respectable 750 career points. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors
