This looked awful on the replay.

Video: Beleskey taken out by brutal looking high stick to the face.

Watching this live it didn't seem like much of anything, but both the reaction of Bruins forward Matt Beleskey ,as well as the replay, indicated that there was in fact something very wrong on the play.

It didn't look like anything malicious but the end result was bad, so bad in fact that it looked Anaheim Ducks defenseman Simon Despres may have taken out Beleskey's eye or something. Despres during a follow through with his stick caught Beleskey with the end of the blade and he could not have placed it more perfectly to strike Beleskey right in the eye area.

Beleskey was in obvious pain after the play, and it appeared that he was in fact favoring his eye as he reached out for teammates to help guide him back to the locker room. Thankfully Beleskey was able to return to the bench after some time spent being evaluated by Bruin's trainers, but this certainly looks like it could have been much worse.
