Some player takes pride in blocking a flying piece of rubber with any part of their body. They'll come back to the bench under a round of applause 'cause their teammate appreciate the willingness to suffer for the team. Other times, you come back to the bench and head back straight to the dressing room 'cause something's wrong.

For Erik Johnson, it was the latter. The Colorado Avalanche's defenseman blocked Tyler Seguin's shot with the side of his right leg. Johnson broke his fibula and is expected to be out for 6-8 weeks.

The Colorado Avalanche were already short of quality defenseman, this is going to be a real tough loss for them. Johnson was averaging 22 minutes and totaling 11 points in 23 games so far this season.
