That does not look good.

Weber carried off the ice after knee on knee from Bruins' Kuraly.

The Boston Bruins picked up a big win over the Nashville Predators on Saturday afternoon, but the final moments of the game featured some ugliness.

There was just a little over 5 minutes left to go in the game's 3rd period when suddenly Nashville Predators defenseman Yannick Weber was down in the heap along the corner boards. If you had merely watched the live broadcast you could have easily missed what happened to Weber, but given just how much pain he appeared to be suffering in the corner everyone on the ice immediately shifted their attention to him.

Upon watching the replay of the incident however you can clearly see that Weber is the victim of a knee on knee hit courtesy of Boston Bruins center Sean Kuraly. I believe that it is hard to place too much blame on Kuraly here as this seemed to be more the result of an awkward collision between two players than it did malicious hit from a dirty player. For one Kuraly is not particularly known as being a dirty player around the league and the video evidence also seems to point to the fact that this was not intentional.

On the play you can clearly see Weber trying to clear the puck out of his own zone alone the boards, a relatively harmless looking play on his part. It is while Weber is controlling the puck that Kuraly closes the distance and looks for a body check on the veteran Predators defenseman, but he never really finds what he's looking for. Initially it mat have looked to Kuraly like Weber would move back with the puck, and you can see that he tries to adjust the angle of his body at the very last moment when he realizes Weber is going the other way with the play. Weber's leg is sticking out along with Kuraly's here and the knees of both men collide in an ugly looking fashion, resulting in the injury to Weber.

We have not heard any official word from the Nashville Predators regarding his status at this time, but he had to be carried off the ice by his teammates which is never a good sign.
