What the Penguins will look to do during the final stretch of the season

The Penguins were able to take this All Star break to evaluate in which direction their season is going. They currently sit tied with the New Jersey Devils for the final wild card spot. However, they do have 2 games in hand.

The Pens season has been very up and down with Sidney Crosby having the worst start of his career but the team has turned things around as of late. They have gone 5-2-3 over their last 10 games. If we look at how many points they had to grab the last wild card spot last season, they would need to finish with at least 98 points. So they would need 43 points over their last 34 games. That means Pittsburgh would need to go at least 21-12-1 to reach that mark. No easy task, but if they continue playing how they have been, they can have a good chance.

With how tight the Eastern Conference is, any little slip can put you in a bad place and any run can put you in a good place.
