The Winnipeg Jets are now down 1-0 in the best-of-seven series after losing to the St. Louis Blues 2-1 Wednesday in their opening game of the Stanley Cup playoffs despite having the home crowd advantage.

But captain Blake Wheeler wonders what else did you expect. The veteran forward had some strong words for the media members and fans out there following the loss on Wednesday night as he went straight to the point with a logical punch.

Wheeler said they knew they we’re going to lose at some point this post-season, and that no team out there has been able to win a Stanley Cup with a 16-0 record.

“Who was the last team to go 16 and 0 in the playoffs?” Wheeler said.  “Has it ever happened? So we didn’t expect to do that.”
“The playoffs are so much about how you control your emotions. You win a game and all of a sudden you feel like you’re going to win the Stanley Cup. You lose a game and you feel like you have no chance.”
“Come with the right attitude tomorrow night and work our tails off,” Wheeler added, “We think that’s gonna be enough.”

We will see tonight if this attitude is indeed enough for the Jets, who struggled in the last stretch of the regular season.

The Blues vowed to be even better for Game 2 and will challenge the Jets and their crowd even more as they hope to head back home with a 2-0 advantage in the series.

Wheeler will make sure this does not happen.

Do you believe his message will be clear? To his teammates but the pundits as well?

We all hope the Jets are focused on Game 2 tonight.
