You remember John Scott? This AHL enforcer who played in the NHL All-Stars game and got a thunder-like round of applause when he actually did score a goal in the ASG.

The NHL went away and created what is known as the "John Scott rule" stating a player isn't eligible to participate in the ASG if he played in the AHL prior to the All-Star Game (with the exception of a conditionnement stint).

TSN's Frank Sevaralli did his best to find the 2017 edition of John Scott in this article.

Peter Budaj. When the Montreal Canadiens released Budaj in 2014-2015, little did they know he was going to be Los Angeles' starting goalie this year, thanks to Jonathan Quick's injury.

Shawn Thornton. The 39 year-old veteran played a total of 605 games in the AHL the most for an NHL active player. He isn't expected to be sent down this year and could very well be on the starting lineup of the ASG.

Mark Cullen. At the age of 40, Cullen hasn't been named to an All-Star game ever. This year might be the one!

Steve Ott. Put a microphone on Steve Ott and you'll have the best time of your life. That guy is a such a good trash talker!
