Whoa! Oilers rookie has some major cajones takes number 98!

That's how to put a great deal of pressure on yourself.

If I'm a fan of the Edmonton Oilers I'm loving this announcement.

One of Edmonton's young rookies has decided to put a great deal of pressure on his shoulders by choosing to wear number 98, and while that number has never been worn by any Oiler in the past, there's no avoiding comparisons to the iconic 99 worn by arguably the greatest player of all time, Wayne Gretzky.

So who is the young man bold enough to do this? It's first round draft pick Jesse Puljujarvi who will be the first Oiler to sport 98, it also just so happens to be the year in which he was born, so the significance to being just behind Gretzky may not have even factored into his decision.

This points Puljujarvi right between "The Great One" and "The Next One" with Connor McDavid currently sporting number 97, and he will have a great deal of work to do if he wants to live up to the class of player that has worn these top numbers for the Oilers.

The confidence to make this move is exactly what you want to see in a guy you drafted in the first round.
