The Ottawa Senators made it clear after acquiring Vladislav Namestnikov from the New York Rangers earlier this month that they weren’t done making move. And it seems like they might have locked in on a trade partner.

Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports Senators general manager Pierre Dorion is working the phones in search of forward depth. While Garrioch cites three league executives claiming the pickings are slim in the trade market, he believes Minnesota Wild forwards Kevin Fiala, Joel Eriksson Ek, and Ryan Donato are on the market and could catch the attention of the Sens.

Donato was moved to Minnesota around the trade deadline last season when he shipped back in return for Charlie Coyle, who joined the Boston Bruins.

The Wild has had a rough start to the 2019-20 season, but new general manager Bill Guerin preached patience and claimed he won’t make any panic moves. However, he could be swayed by Dorion if an interesting offer comes up.

Garrioch however bets on the possibility that help should come from within the organization in Ottawa.

We will have to see how both teams handle the rest of the month and feel the urgent need to make a move before the first half of the campaign is done with.
