Wild coach Bruce Boudreau buys his “own friggin' hockey team”

Bruce Boudreau is a lot of things... He played for the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Chicago Blackhawks in the 1970's and 1980's, he has coached the Washington Capitals, the Anaheim Ducks and is now behind the bench of the Minnesota Wild. 

He also had a small part in the iconic movie Slap Shot, and was known to be The Great One Wayne Gretzky's favorite player as a kid, when he averaged more than 100 points a season for the Toronto Marlboros of the Ontario Hockey Association.

And now, he is the owner of a hockey team. 

"I kind of just said, 'What the heck,' " Boudreau told ESPN. "And I bought a friggin' hockey team."

After his first season with the Wild, Boudreau and his wife, Crystal, have become minority owners in a junior hockey team: the Blue Ox, an United States Premier Hockey League expansion team in Coon Rapids, Minnesota.

"The whole thing happened after one lunch meeting," admitted Jay Witta, a minority owner, general manager and coach of the Blue Ox. 

His son Brady will be one of of the Blue Ox goaltenders this season: a family business!
