The summer season is used by NHL teams mostly to sign and extend players contracts. The UFA market is a key moment for GMs in order to lock down promising players and proven veterans alike.

Today, the Wild announced the extension of Kurtis Gabriel's contract for one additional year.

The 24 years old forward earned a modest one point in 13 games with the team last season. His size is his main attribute though, at 6'4'', 211 lbs. His two-ways contract, evaluated at 715,000$/70,000$ will add some depth to the Wild's roster in case of injuries. He's known to enjoy rough hockey and will not step back to defend his teammates.
