The Minnesota Wild was getting ready for puck drop against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday night when the team was advised that defenseman Greg Pateryn needed to leave the ice.

Pateryn, who played on Sunday, was forgotten by head coach Bruce Boudreau and was not listed on the lineup card. We don’t know who noticed it, the Penguins or the officials, but Pateryn was asked to leave the game before it started and headed to the press box.

The veteran blue liner was listed as a scratch and so, he became one.

Already sitting in the press box was Ryan Donato, who was then asked to quickly head back down the room and dress as the 13th forward. He was listed as playing and so he was allowed to join his teammates for the game.

What a mess! See how it went down, per team insider Michael Russo of The Athletic

Many cannot believe Boudreau made this mistake. This could get him fired...
