At 7:30 PM this evening, the Detroit Red Wings will be hosting the Vancouver Canucks. The Wings will seek to put an end to a poor run of form with a W, while the Canucks look to keep their hot streak going.

There was a lot of movement in Hockey Town today as veteran defenseman Jonathan Ericsson was waived and right-handed d-man Alex Biega was sent back to Grand Rapids. Winger Evgeny Svechnikov was called up as a result and will make his way back to the Wings' lineup as the 4th line left winger.

Joining Svechnikov on the 4th line will be rookie Taro Hirose who has been struggling to settle in this season after a promising few games last season. Tyler Bertuzzi will be back on the first forward line, Luke Glendening will play on the 2nd line as Helm and Abdelkader form a 3rd line with Jacob De La Rose playing center.

Dennis Cholowski is still out nursing an injury and Adam Erne was placed on the injured reserve today. The roster movements made today mean that Madison Bowey will be paired up with Trevor Daley on the 3rd duo of d-men. Jimmy Howard will earn a start tonight ahead of Jonathan Bernier.

Here is the Red Wings' projected lineup according to NHL.com correspondent Dave Hogg:

Forwards:

Tyler Bertuzzi - Dylan Larkin - Anthony Mantha

Luke Glendening - Valtteri Filppula - Andreas Athanasiou

Darren Helm - Jacob De La Rose - Justin Abdelkader

Evgeny Svechnikov - Frans Nielsen - Taro Hirose

Defensemen:

Patrik Nemeth - Mike Green

Danny DeKeyser - Filip Hronek

Madison Bowey - Trevor Daley

Goaltenders:

Jimmy Howard

Jonathan Bernier

Christoffer Ehn will be a healthy scratch.

The Canucks are set ice a revamped and strengthened lineup featuring recent acquisitions J.T. Miller, Tanner Pearson, Michael Ferland, Tyler Myers and Jordie Benn. The newcomers will be joined by the likes of Elias Pettersson, Brock Boeser, new captain Bo Horvat and 2018 first-round pick Quinn Hughes.

The Red Wings will look to come out strong to defend home ice this evening. It will be a great hockey game as they try to turn the tide on a somewhat disappointing start to the season.
