Fans in Hockey Town have been waiting to hear from Detroit Red Wings core defenseman Niklas Kronwall, whose future in the NHL remains in limbo at the moment.

Kronwall is a pending unrestricted free agent who revealed at the end of the season that he couldn’t guarantee if he would return for one more season.

However, new Wings general manager Steve Yzerman has revealed to the Detroit News that Kronwall has yet to make a decision on his playing future, but the team would like to have the veteran defenseman back next season.

The 38-year-old mentioned when he started the 2018-19 season in Detroit that he thought it would be his last, but knows how much he still loved the game.

In 79 games this season, he scored three goals and posted 27 points and some might like to think he would want to come back to Detroit where he spent his entire 15-year career since being selected in the first round of the 2000 NHL Draft.

With Yzerman open and ready to convince Kronwall to return, it would be great to see the fan favourite defender comes back for one more year in Hockey Town.
