The end of the first period got ugly between the Detroit Red Wings and Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night when Wings’ young forward Brendan Perlini’s face was sliced open by the skate of Sabres’ Henri Jokiharju.

As Jokiharju fell to the ice, his skate caught Perlini right under the visor and appears to slice part of his face. A trainer rushed to his side and placed a towel on his face, helping him make his way to the dressing room for repairs.

At the time, the towel hid the damage the blade had caused to Perlini’s face, however, after the game, team insider Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press posted a picture of the player’s face as he exited the arena.

Perlini sustained a deep cut to his nose and we can see the scar will be an ugly one. It looks like his nose almost fell off his face and had to be put back into place.

But girls dig scars, right?
