Yet another Bruins defenseman falls tonight.

This is getting worrisome.

Its more of the same bad news for the Bruins with yet another injured defenceman.

This time it’s Adam McQuaid. The 30-year-old blueline stalwart had to leave Sunday’s game due to sustaining an upper-body injury in the first period.

McQuaid is a minute-munching defenceman with size (6’4, 212 lbs) who has been taking on some of Boston’s toughest minutes for the past eight seasons. He played in 77 games and notched 2 goals and 10 points, along with 71 penalty minutes and +/- of plus-4 this season.

While McQuaid is an important feature of the Bruins defense, he joins an impressive, or rather depressing, list of injured defenders in Boston.

Colin MillerBrandon Carlo, and Torey Krug have all gone out with injuries since April 7th. Forwards David KrejciNoel Acciari, and Jimmy Hayes have also been out of the lineup due to injuries sustained since the beginning of the month.

Boston had Joe Morrow recalled to fill the holes in the blueline, and if McQuaid is out of the lineup they may need to call on even more players from their AHL squad.

Head coach Bruce Cassidy had this to say after the game when asked about his depleted lineup:

“That’s just hockey. They lost a guy, too, early. It happens. We’re on a bad run, let’s face it, that’s four games in a row we’ve lost a guy early”.

Hopefully, the Bruins will have McQuaid or maybe even Carlo back for their next game, otherwise Bruins fans may well be looking at another fresh new face skating on the back end. As soon as we get more details on both guys' status, you'll know.

The Bruins will take home ice advantage in game 3 of their tied series against the Ottawa Senators on Monday, April 17th.
