It's an incredible year for the the Toronto Maple Leafs and their young group of rookie forwards.

After both William Nylander and Auston Matthews had already claimed Rookie of the Month awards in 2016, with Nylander winning in October and Matthews winning in December, the first Rookie of the Month award in 2017 is also going to a Maple Leaf.

The National Hockey League has announced that Mitch Marner has been named January's Rookie of the Month making him the third Leafs' forward to win the award this season , the first time any franchise has had three rookie of the month winners in a single season.

It's hard to argue the numbers on this one, Marner was outstanding in January producing over a point per game with a whopping 15 points in just 13 contests, good enough to earn him a share of the rookie scoring lead with 41 points.
