Young defenseman shows up to training camp even without a new contract.

In a summer that has seen a number of players holding out and using pressure tactics to try and get their contracts done prior to the start of the season, one young National Hockey League player using a different tactic.

Buffalo Sabres defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen first requested permission to attend training camp with his teammates, this despite not having a contract for this season, and when he was granted permission by general manager Tim Murray he followed through and showed up to camp.

It's an interesting tactic from a young player in a summer filled with young players going the hard route in negotiations, unfortunately it doesn't seem to have had any impact on the Sabres GM. Murray was asked if it would impact negotiations, and his answer was clear.

"No," Murray said as per The Associated Press while breaking into a laugh on Friday. "Unless you ask him that when he got here that he got all lovey-dovey and wants to play for what we want to pay him."

While it may not have endeared him to his team, fans are likely to view this move in a positive light.
