Young NHL player believes he can beat Canada because “they get weak...”

A young National Hockey League player just made a very bold statement about a team that just got done beating him.

According to a report from  Jonas Siegel of the Canadian Press, Montreal Canadiens defenseman Mikhail Sergachev proclaimed that he believes Russia can defeat Canada at the World Junior Championship, this despite having just lost to the Canadian team at the time of making his comments.

According to Siegel while Sergachev admitted that the Canadian squad was very fast, he also added "but we can beat them all the time because they get weak in the second and third periods."

Of course the fact that he plays for a Canadian team only makes these comments even more poignant as it's likely to ruffle some feathers in Montreal.

Update: Siegel has since deleted his report, it's unclear if that was a technical error or if there is something more going on here.
