Joni Ikonen is certainly one of the Montreal Canadiens' most promising prospects. And even though he hasn't performing as well as some thought he would this year, he still signed a new deal for the 2018-19 season in Finland.
Eyes On The Prize's European correspondant, Patrik Bexell, confirmed the news earlier today:
Ikonen was drafted in the second round of the 2017 NHL draft, 58th overall, by the Canadiens. He was one of the most impressive players during the team's development camp, last summer.
As a matter of fact, he literally stole the show with a bunch of amazing plays during the World Junior Summer Showcase.
The 18-year-old forward, who plays with and against bigger and older players, amassed six points in 31 games with the Kalpa Kuopio this season.
