Young woman predicts she will be the first female NHL GM.

A young lady by the name of Rachel Doerrie has set a very lofty and admirable goal for herself, she wants to become the first female general manager in the history of the National Hockey League's long history.

Rachel says that once she realized that she lacked the inate talent required to become a professional hockey player, she immediately turned her focus to fufilling her dream. From the Blogger's Tribune:

Knowing I was not good enough playing Midget A to make it is a player, I started to look at university programs that would allow me to work in hockey, with one dream: To be the first female General Manager of an NHL franchise

She's not talking her goal lightly either, Rachel is already working as a video coach with the Ontario Hockey Leagues Sudbury Wolves, and has been doing so for some time now, and she has no plans to stop moving forward.

I do some video consulting for minor hockey teams. I still watch almost 4 hours of hockey a night. I write on the blog when I can, each post is about 3 hours of research and video editing. I spend a lot of time with my younger brother, playing hockey and working with him and his team. There have been days where it has been tough. I try and block out the noise, because that’s all it is. I will continue to learn and push forward in the hockey world, taking opportunities to learn, whenever possible. I’m considering law school, or an avenue that allows me to work for the NHL. It is not about how long it takes me to achieve my ultimate dream, it is that I will be relentless in my chase for it. It started out as a breakfast, and has grown into an obsession, and hopefully, a career.

This is one young woman certainly worth keeping your eyes on, and as she considers law school in the hopes of finding a career inside the NHL offices there will be a great many people cheering her on, hoping she achieves her ultimate goal.
