Youngster gets over $10 million for rookie performance in the playoffs.

So how much is a Stanley Cup Championship worth?

Well if you asked Matt Murray, the rookie goaltender who dominated the postseason on his way to leading the Pittsburgh Penguins to a Stanley Cup Championship earlier this year, the answer might be $11.25 million.

On Thursday ESPN insider Pierre Lebrun revealed that the Penguins and Murray had agreed to a new three year deal, one that will pay Murray a very reasonable $3.75 million per season.

It's a huge deal for the Penguins, and the fact that it comes at such a reasonable price will likely allow them far more flexibility over the next three years than most had expected they would retain.  Not to mention Murray demonstrated he is one hell of a young goaltender, and having him secured for three more years is extremely valuable all on it's own.
