Your call: Is Leafs' offensive success hiding a major problem?

Things look good now... but Toronto may be looking at some trouble on the horizon.

The high-flying Toronto Maple Leafs have been one of the big stories early in this NHL season. They're 1 goal short of the league lead in goals scored - with only one less game played than the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Their 4.3 goals per game leads the league in goals per game. But their defense is a whole other story.

They've allowed 37 goals in 10 games, in other words, 3.7 goals against per game.

The Leafs (7-3-0) have lost all their games by identical scores of 6-3. The most recent loss to the Carolina Hurricanes did not go over well with head coach Mike Babcock.

“They deserved to win; we didn’t deserve to win. We didn’t work; they worked. They were organized; we were unorganized. They were prepared; we were unprepared,” Babcock told Sportsnet following the loss. “From the coaching staff to the players, we were all no good tonight. It’s on us.”

The team's defense is 25th in the league with an .892 save percentage according to Sportsnet's Luke Fox.

Analysts don't expect Toronto's offensive dominance to sustain itself throughout the year. When it inevitably regresses a bit towards the norm, they'll need their defense to have improved the make up for the dip in offense.

If it doesn't - there could be serious issues down the road for Toronto.
