With sports betting giant Bodog releasing their odds and favorites for the 2017-18 Stanley Cup champions, hockey fans are getting into the action and putting some money down on their squad. The back-to-back defending champion Pittsburgh Penguins lead the way, with the Edmonton Oilers and Chicago Blackhawks following in 2nd and 3rd. Surprisingly, the Dallas Stars and Tampa Bay Lightning, two non-playoff teams in 2016-17 follow. Behind that there are a few other interesting choices, including some legitimate contenders who don’t seem to be getting their due.

What about the Minnesota Wild, Montreal Canadiens or Columbus Blue Jackets? Each team looked poised for a deep Cup run last season before running into playoff trouble. Which leads us to the question, “who do you think is the biggest ‘under the radar’ Stanley Cup contender next season?

No one expects last year’s bottom feeders like the Vancouver Canucks, Detroit Red Wings, Colorado Avalanche or New Jersey Devils to make any noise, but what about some other teams that fell on bad luck last season? Could the Philadelphia Flyers or Winnipeg Jets surprise people? And when are the Anaheim Ducks or Calgary Flames finally going to break through?
