One of the most important thing as a coach at any level is having the respect of your players, and if Minnesota Wild forward Zach Parise is any indication, the Wild have done a very good job in the offseason.

After hitting a home run with the hire of highly respected head coach Bruce Boudreau, Wild general manager Chuck Fletcher pulled off another major hire this week when the team announced NHL legend Scott Stevens would join Boudreau behind the bench as one of his assistant coaches. According to Wild insider Mike Russo, Parise has expressed his approval of the move.

"He's the quietest and humblest Hall of Famer you'll ever meet," Parise said via text as per the Star Tribune. "He's going to be so good for us and our D and PK."

As for Bruce Boudreau, he informed Russo of his belief that Stevens' legendary status would earn him the instant respect of the room, and it appears based on Parise's reaction that the head coach was right.

"Just to bring in his expertise and history, I think that's a real bonus for us," Boudreau said. "He is one of the greatest defensemen and well respected. I think he’ll have instant respect. Any team would have loved to have him, but until now, he wasn’t ready to leave New Jersey."

The Wild appear to be making all the right moves.
