Midway through the first period of tonight’s game between the St. Louis Blues and Colorado Avalanche, Avs blue liner Nikita Zadorov received a two minute minor for a extremely dangerous cross check on Blues forward Pat Maroon.

While tracking a puck deep in the Avs zone, Maroon turned his back to the 6 foot, 5 inches, 230 pound Zadorov who absolutely buries Maroon into the end boards.

That’s UGLY.

Fortunately Maroon, a big boy himself at 6 foot, 3 inches, 225 pounds, seems no worse for wear. Still… that’s a dangerous play from Zadorov that you can bet NHL Player Safety will be reviewing.
