The ex-wife of Ottawa Senators defenceman Nikita Zaitsev has accused him of taking the couple’s children while in Russia last month.

However, it appears that this story is made up… according to the player’s agent Dan Milstein, who made a statement on Friday after the Senators’ practice in Philadelphia.

Zaitsev was not available for interviews after the skate.

Zaitsev left the team for undisclosed “personal reasons” in November.

Earlier today, a video surfaced on Instagram allegedly showing the children being forcibly removed.  Zaitsev’s ex-wife has gone to the police to accuse him of kidnapping their children, stating he did so to avoid paying child support.

However, as seen in Milstein’s statement, the kids are said to be safe and still in Moscow with Zaitsev’s parents, where they usually reside. The ex-wife is reportedly aware of their locations.

It has been added that law enforcement considers the case close.

Milstein added that they would like people to respect the family’s privacy at this time.
