Zucker to get traded to Calgary after Flames strike back with perfect pitch!?

Earlier on Thursday, it was reported that the Minnesota Wild and the Pittsburgh Penguins had entered talks on a possible trade involving Jason Zucker and Phil Kessel.

While it seems like Kessel isn’t willing to waive his no-trade clause to join the Wild and that Pittsburgh will have to look elsewhere for a trade, Minnesota could have sparked back the Calgary Flames’ interest in Zucker.

As you remember, it was reported that the Wild and Flames came quite close to a deal that would have sent Zucker to Calgary around the trade deadline. The Canadian team now knows they would have greatly benefited from his offensive prowess if he had been traded in time for the postseason.

Flames insider Kent Wilson of the Athletic believes the Flames and Wild have begun new talks on a potential trade, as it is believed that the names of Sam Bennett and Michael Frolik have been brought into the mix.

Zucker managed 21 goals and 42 points in 81 games for $5.5 million last season. The Flames would have to closely study their cap situation before pulling the move. They have been reluctant to move Bennett in the past and his latest season have shown the kid has potential moving forward on the roster.

However, with the Penguins brought into talks this week, it might have made the Flames nervous to once again lose out on Zucker and a move could be therefore made soon…
