One of the most iconic moments in the history of the game turns 50 years old today, and thanks to the National Hockey League even those of us who were not even born when this moment happened get to relive it on video.

The National Hockey League had never before seen a defenseman the likes of Boston Bruins legend Bobby Orr, and many would argue that we still have never seen one like him since, and during the 1969 - 1970 NHL regular season the Bruins blue liner shocked the league with an unbelievable performance over the entire season. No defenseman had ever recorded more than 59 points in a single season in the league but that year Orr would go on to record a staggering 120 points from the blue line, completely shattering the record and single handedly revolutionizing the sport of hockey in the blink of an eye. Orr would go on to win the Art Ross trophy that season as the league's leading point producer, something we have yet to see in what would be considered the modern era of the NHL.

The clip that we are sharing with you today is from March 15th of 1970, exactly 50 years ago to the day, and it showcases the moment in which Orr recorded his 100th point, a shorthanded goal that he scored against the Detroit Red Wings. Not only was hitting 100 points as a defenseman an absolutely ridiculous milestone at the time, and would still be an incredible achievement by today's standards, but Orr managed to do it in truly spectacular fashion. After a save in his own end Orr scooped up the puck behind the Bruins net and skated it all the way down the ice, blowing through the Red Wings defense, to pick up an incredible short handed goal, putting an exclamation mark on #100.

The best part of this clip however may not even be the goal itself, but instead having the opportunity to hear Bobby Orr talk about the amazing moment in his own words. Orr of course is all class in this one and even credits his teammate for "the best part" of his historic moment.
