This was between two guys you would least expect to see doing this kind of thing, but it turned out to be a highly entertaining affaire nonetheless.

The Colorado Avalanche faced off against the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday night and fans in the building were treated to a very nice surprise when suddenly, and seemingly out of nowhere, Chicago Blackhawks forward Alex DeBrincat and Colorado Avalanche defenseman Samuel Girard decided that they were going to drop the gloves. Now to be clear here neither man is known for his fighting prowess and, given that both men would be considered lightweights at best, in the National Hockey League pecking order when it comes to these type of things, this one got the fans out of their seats.

Unfortunately for Samuel Girard it appears that although he picked a man of a similar stature to go to war with, he awoke what was a sleeping giant in the heart and body of Alex DeBrincat. The diminutive Blackhawks forward clearly walked away the winner from this one as he landed far more powerful blows to the head of Girard than Girard was able to give in return. Not to completely disparage Girard here as he clearly connected with a few shots of his own, in fact he left DeBrincat's face a little bloody by the time it was all said and done, but they just did not compare at all to the blows from DeBrincat.

The shots that were being thrown by DeBrincat had plenty of pop behind them in spite of his smaller size and it was clear early on that Girard was not doing a very good job of deflecting or even absorbing the big shots that were coming from DeBrincat. The very first punch of the exchange from DeBrincat appeared to immediately set Girard on the defensive and it was just a fraction of a second later that DeBrincat landed a huge haymaker that rocked Girard's head back and set his mouth piece twirling through the air and flying down the ice. DeBrincat landed a similar blow at the end of the exchange that put an end to the battle between the two men and left no doubts as to who the winner was this time around.
