The last game on the National Hockey League's schedule for Sunday night is a match up between the Anaheim Ducks and the Nashville Predators, and if you stayed up for this one you were rewarded early.

Not 3 seconds had ticked off of the clock to start the game when both Anaheim Ducks forward Nicolas Deslauriers and Nashville Predators forward Austin Watson decided they were going to drop the gloves. Although this one may have been premeditated there is a possibility that it was spontaneous as well, as Watson initially seemed unsure that Deslauriers would drop the gloves. Unfortunately for Watson it was a decision he would likely come to regret.

As far as scraps in the modern day of the National Hockey League go this one was pretty good, although there was a clear winner and it was heavily one-sided in nature. Watson never really put out much offense of any kind as Deslauriers seemed to have an iron grip on his jersey and was dropping a steady flow of right hands to the face and head of Watson. It may have been that Watson never got good position and was left vulnerable as a result, but it really did feel like he was simply dominated by Deslauriers who was clearly the better man on the evening.

Hopefully this is going to set the tone for the rest of the game between these two.
