Brawl breaks out on the Jets bench after an elbow to the jaw from Lowry.

This is quickly developing into one of the more bitter rivalries in the National Hockey League and if things continue to trend in their current direction we may soon be seeing a lot more of it.

On Friday night all hell broke loose between the Winnipeg Jets and the Minnesota Wild when a brawl broke out on the Winnipeg Jets bench, literally on the bench. Although the two sides were obviously participants in this entire fiasco I think most hockey fans will walk away from this one blaming the Jets for the extra curricular activities but the fans in attendance seemed to love it either way.

It all started during the final 5 minutes of the games 3rd and final period when 25 year old Winnipeg Jets centerman Adam Lowry caught 21 year old wild centerman Joel Eriksson Ek up high in the mouth with an ugly looking elbow. There was really no question that Lowry had not only delivered an elbow to Eriksson Ek on the play but there was also very little doubt that it had been done intentionally. As you would expect that set the Wild off tbut the Jets were still not simply going to allow the Wild to push them around.

As several members of the Wild skated towards the play, likely in an effort to confront the Jets about their fellow Wild teammate who was now down on the ice, Lowry once again took advantage of the situation and appeared to get the better of the Wild. Wild defenseman Nick Seeler skated over towards Lowry only to find himself suddenly being shoved deep into the Winnipeg Jets' bench by Lowry himself, and that's when things began to get really heated on both sides of the ice.

Players on the Jets bench began to throw punches in Seeler's direction and that is when a number of Wild players rushed the Jets bench in an effort to come to the defense of their teammates. The bad blood here likely stems from the playoff match up between the two teams in the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs, a match up that could be repeated in the very first round of the playoffs should the Jets and Wild maintain their current positions in the standings for the remainder of the regular season.
