Brayden Point and Jean-Gabriel Pageau trade blows on Saturday night!

Say what you will about Ottawa Senators forward Jean-Gabriel Pageau, the 26 year old National Hockey League veteran is not about to let anyone push him around regardless of who they may be.

On Saturday night Pageau and his Senators were faced with a rather difficult challenge when the highly skilled Tampa Bay Lightning came calling. To their credit in spite of the fact that the Lightning were very heavy favorites coming into this game the Senators put up a pretty good fight and I think it is safe to say that Pageau set a very good example for his team and his teammates early on. Pageau, certainly not a star player by any means, made it very clear that he would not be bullied on the ice and it seems like his fellow Senators followed suit.

A little under halfway through the game's second period Pageau became engaged in a battle along the boards with Tampa Bay Lightning star forward Brayden Point, and it was Point who clearly got the better of the exchange. After the two men became entangled Point outmuscled Pageau along the boards and sent him sprawling to the ice in the process, something that Pageau was clearly not very happy about. To his credit the gritty Senators forward bounced right back up and immediately went after Point who seemed to be waiting for just that kind of reaction.

To his credit Point seemed very eager to drop the gloves with Pageau and in fact had even done so before Pageau signaled that he was ready to throw some hands. Although it took Pageau a moment to follow suit he too showed a willingness to stand up for himself and after a few seconds of jostling for position both men began to throw blows with some ill intent behind them. The result was these two men throwing some big shots at one another and we had the makings of a very good tilt on our hands but unfortunately the officials stepped in very quickly.

This is a tough one to call given that both men fared pretty well for themselves, however it did look like a big shot from Pageau to the head of Point is what caused the official to call a stop to this one.
