Los Angeles Kings superstar defenseman Drew Doughty is probably counting his lucky stars after this play.
The National Hockey League veteran nearly lost his nose on Monday night when a battle along the boards with Toronto Maple Leafs veteran forward Patrick Marleau went terribly wrong.
While doubting was hunching down to make a play on the puck, Marleau's skate came flying up into the air and struck Doughty in the face, slicing a nice gash open on his nose.
Doughty's protective visor is likely the only thing that prevented this from being a much more severe incident that it was.
