The San Jose Sharks are playing dirty.
Sharks veteran Patrick Marleau took out Penguins playoff hero Bryan Rust with what looked like an intentional head shot during the opening minutes of the third period on Monday night. It's likely the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety will be taking an extra look at this one after the game, especially considering the high profile circumstances, and the player who took the hit.
While Rust, a rookie, may not be a household name to the average NHL fan there's no doubt he's won over every single fan in Pittsburgh with major heroics in Game 6, 7 as well as in Game 1 this evening with the opening goal of the series. His loss for any length of time could be devastating to the Penguins.
