Breaking: Patrick Sharp appears to suffer an injury after accidental collision.

The Dallas Stars just saw one of their top forwards head off the ice in what appeared to be considerable pain and one has to wonder if they will be able to recover from this if it is indeed a serious injury.

Stars forward Patrick Sharp was injured on Monday night when he accidentally collided with St. Louis Blues forward David Backes. Sharp appeared to take the worst of the impact and immediately went to the bench after regaining his feet, an indicator that something just wasn't right. Sharp would not stay on the bench long however, and instead headed back to the Stars locker room where he remains, presumably being evaluated by the teams medical staff, although no official update has been provided by the Stars at this time.

This could be a crushing blow to the Stars who are already without forward Tyler Seguin, as it would leave them severely depleted at the forward position against what is a very deep Blues' squad.
