This is some brutal news for the Carolina Hurricanes, however nothing is more brutal than the hit at the very centre of it.

Hurricanes top prospect Patrik Puistola is expected be out for a least some time after taking this nasty blindside hit in a minor-league game on Tuesday.

Puistola was looking the other way and was hit full force before slamming his head into the ice. The young prospect had to be carried off the ice on a stretcher as fans looked on with worry.

Check it out:

The team has already confirmed that he is expected to miss the upcoming World Juniors tournament and many have concerns for his long-term health.

The 18-year-old winger was selected 73rd overall by Carolina in this summer’s NHL Draft, but it feels like he is nowhere close to getting called back to the big club after this brutal hit.

We wish him all the best.
