The first period of the game between the Czech Republic and Canada was an intense one at the World Junior Championship on Tuesday.

The Canadian team took a 4-0 lead thanks to their special team, but they might also be grateful to forward Otakar Sik.

The Czech player was ejected from the game and his team had to serve a major penalty for spearing Canada’s Bowen Byram in the nuts. The move appeared quite painful on the poor Canadian player, however, his team made the most of it.

Canada took a 4-0 lead after the first period in a game high in intensity. Despite missing Alexis Lafreniere, who remains sidelined with a knee injury, it is great to see this roster back together and ready for the next round.

Byram must be feeling alright: he has collected an assist in the first period of action!

The Czech Republic managed to get two goals in the second period. However, Canada did not waste time to retaliate. It is now 6-2 for the Canadians after two periods.
