David Pastrnak goes after Tom Wilson and all hell breaks loose!

Somebody needs to tell these boys to get into the holiday spirit.

On Monday night during the National Hockey League's final day of games prior to the holiday break the Boston Bruins and the Washington Capitals faced off against one another in what was largely a pretty uneventful game. That is not to say that the game did not have its moments but it was clear when the Bruins took a 5 - 0 lead in the second period that we were not going to get much of a game out of this one. You could be fooled by the final score of 7 - 3 into thinking this game was in doubt at some points, but it never truly was.

What it did feature however was plenty of fireworks between these two teams and it may have all started thanks to Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson. Wilson is of course a notorious agitator and he was up to his usual antics in this one, but this time he had a little help in riling up the Boston Bruins. During the game's second period Wilson laid a heavy hit on Boston Bruins defenseman Torey Krug, taking Krug out of the game in the process. The hit itself appears to have been a good one from Wilson but Krug came off balance as a result of the hit and crashed awkwardly into the boards, although it is unclear which of the two impacts caused the injury.

It is perhaps due to the injury to Krug that we saw things truly get out of hand in the third period and once again it was Wilson who was at the center of it all. Wilson appeared to take exception to a hit from behind by Boston Bruins forward David Pastrnak and retaliated with a spear to the groin of Boston's leading scorer, which in turned rubbed Pastrnak the wrong way. The two men continued to jostle with one another until the play was blown dead and then a full on scrum ensued. Everyone got involved in this one but unfortunately we did not get to see Wilson and Pastrnak throw down, which is probably for the best.
